The victory of the communist party of China to make Ip Man (Donnie Yen) were forced to leave his family and moved to Hong Kong. Master Wing Chun martial managed to land safely in the land of this British colony about the year 1949. Arriving in Hong Kong, Ip Man still must find a way to survive in this new country. The only way is to establish universities Wing Chun. Unfortunately this is not an easy business.
Wing Chun is not a typical martial arts in Hong Kong. Despite getting help from a friend who let his place be used as a gym but still could not bring in Ip Man pupil. Ip Man's fate changed when he met Leung Wong (Huang Xiaoming). Wong, who originally challenged the science of Ip Man to compete even Ip Man eventually became disciples.
Problems not over till here. It turned out to open a martial arts university in Hong Kong there are requirements that must be met by Ip Man. Ip Man had to wait on the challenges of the Warrior Kung Fu in Hong Kong before the deemed worthy of teaching Kung Fu. One of the Kung Fu warrior that must be faced by Ip Man is a Hung Gar (Sammo Hung) who turned out to have as good science by Ip Man.
Once the problem is finished, Ip Man still must be confronted with the oppression of the ruling British Government in Hong Kong at that time. Again Ip Man must use his martial knowledge to serve the Twister (Darren Shahlavi), England's ferocious fighter.
As a sequel, IP MAN 2 is still not far from the 'soul' of the first film. The theme still remains a matter of nationalism, against oppression. If in the first part of the Ip Man had to deal with the Japanese government that invaded China, this time Ip Man had to deal with the British government, represented by the figure of this boxer named Twister.
It's also not something that surprised because most Asian films have always focused on the problem of 'feeling'. Director usually use dramatic scene as a means to involve the audience into the film, in contrast to the western method that uses the story plot, characterizations and dialogue as a means to involve the audience.
If the plot is predictable then that can become a weapon clearly is a character and visualization of the story itself. About this one, it seems the IP MAN 2 is still pretty good. Like the first section, while the election visualization convincing enough as an actor Donnie Yen Ip Man it's also very appropriate. If Jet Li became synonymous with the Wong Fei Hung can be said is Ip Man Donnie Yen.
Fight choreography is also very satisfactory and this can already be predicted from the beginning. Sammo Hung is not new in the world in the world of film and martial arts and film IP MAN 2 This is the proof. Sammo Hung and Donnie Yen could use the expertise optimally and result is very admirable.
